                                            WHITE HOT HEELS

Take a quick look at your shoe collection and you’ll likely find a sea of black, brown, and neutral heels. It’s easy to play it safe when it comes to footwear, but this summer, it’s time to refresh our wardrobes with a pair of striking white kicks.

I first played with white shoes when I was styling Ruby Rose for COVET Magazine, and for readers of my blog - I posted Alexander Wang’s white sensations when Rhianna was parading them on the streets of Los Angeles back in May. View here

Lest you think that white shoes aren’t a very versatile option, let me give you my tips for this hot white trend.

  • Clean and modern, think of white as your new Spring/Summer neutral. Great to offset the brights of the season.
  • Err on the side of quality (aka expensive), as white can look cheap when it comes to shoes.
  • Be bold and take my top six wonder white picks for a spin!
  1. Senso Cadena Heel in White
  2. Senso Sadie Heel
  3. Tony Bianco
  4. Alexander Wang @ net-a-porter.com
  5. Tony Bianco Kallista Heel
  6. Senso XIXI Mint Heel

Bridesmaid Love. Sarah & Chris’ Wedding

imageimageimageimageimageimageimage

I love weddings and whilst my own has been and gone, it’s nice that in my profession, you sometimes get to relieve the experience (vicariously anyway). My close friend and bride to be Sarah Wilson asked me to help style her four bridesmaids for her wedding at Stones in the Yarra Valley.

Her brief was simple, something that would tie in with her overall wedding theme, fashionable but also compliment her wedding gown, designed by Jason Grech. Often brides make the mistake of understating their bridesmaids.

Tip: Guests remember the entire bridal party - when the bridesmaids look good, the bride tends to shine.

With three of Sarah’s bridesmaids residing interstate and overseas, the challenge was making sure I could find something that wouldn’t require alot of alterations but also highlight their own personal style - because when you look good, you feel good.

After narrowing the choices to three styles, the clear winner was these Zimmermann silk ruched bodice maxi dresses. We kept the accessories simple, with my favourite summer staple, Tony Bianco’s ‘Krystle” Gold heels completing the look.

Sarah and Chris’s wedding was absolutely beautiful and I was certainly was one of the happiest people in the chapel that day - they are completely in love and have a bright future ahead. Thanks for allowing me to share the day with you!

AW13 Myer International Designer Collections Preview

imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

I was lucky enough to preview the new International Autumn/Winter 2013 Collections at Myer recently and whilst we may not all, myself included, be able to get our hands on every delicious item, it didn’t make the experience any less exciting.

Like a kid in a candy store, I pulled from the racks the best of the new season, Balmain, Givenchy, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s The Row, Isabel Marant, Roland Mouret, McQ Alexander McQueen’s embellished knits, to name a few. And, I was pleased to preview the latest additions to the Myer family, Kenzo, Alberta Ferretti, Peter Pilotto and Jil Sander Navy.

With fabulous fashion, comes sensational accessories and there was no shortage of those either. With the Balmain belts encased in the glass cabinet, I took the time to play dress ups with scarves by Moschino and Emilo Pucci and jewels by Sonia by Sonia Rykiel.

My favourites from the preview; Givenchy leather dress, Balmain Jacket, The Row leather vest and the Vanessa Bruno Jacket/Vest/ Dress - I am positive I could justify the cost per wear!

And as if it wasn’t fun enough, it has to be said, the staff at Myer take customer service to an entire new level, showcasing the designs, talking through the detail, answering questions and offering me a return visit, even if it’s just to browse! It’s the type of service that reminds you that an in-store experience, can be just as exhilirating as the purchase we all frequently make nowdays át the click of a button online.

Do yourself a fashionable favour and visit Myer Melbourne and Sydney City today and get your hands on the new seasons must haves.

AFL Grand Final Week. Lynette Bolton, Ch 9 News

Lynette Bolton appeared on Channel 9 News last night as part of the excitement of the AFL Grand Final week preparations between Sydney Swans and Hawthorn. Lynette wears a leather peplum top and matching shorts by Steele Melbourne – one to watch, this label is speaking to me, I want it all.

Watch Lynette’s segment on Channel 9 HERE

All white is very classic look, but the inclusion of leather and peplum makes it quite directional. We paired the Steele Melbourne top and shorts, part of the labels high summer range with a Kookai Spring -Summer 12/13 jacket to finish the look.

The following day, Lynette also sported a Stelle blouse and skirt as part of her role as a the face of ‘Salvonista’ a campaign that encourages fashion savvy, budget conscious consumers to shop at their local Salvos Stores and discover affordable fashion, while helping the community and the environment.

Fashion Week. PEOPLE AUSTRALIA SS12/13 Launch

I love supporting local labels, but not many project “cool” quite like men’s T-shirt label PEOPLE.

PEOPLE, the brain child of Andrew Welsh, Ben Clark, Nick Ward and Luke Pacconi celebrated the launch of their Spring/Summer 2012-13 Range “Post Modern” with a bang. When the gorgeous Ben Clark invited me to attend the event held in a South Yarra warehouse during Melbourne’s Spring Fashion Week, who was I to decline?

With a who’s who of Melbourne’s fashion and social scene in attendance, a DJ rocking the decks and a vintage piano decorating the space, I felt like I was at one of those parties your parents warned you about as kid not to go to, but you know you couldn’t miss. Thankfully I didn’t.

Fashion Institution. Le Louvre

Shopping with a client in South Yarra on Saturday, we visited the oldest of the old-school retailers, Le Louvre in South Yarra. A fashion institution in Collins Street for over 8o years Le Louvre space  transports you to luxurious fashion heaven and has recently made the move to online shopping.

Home to designers Alexander McQueen, Balmain, Stella McCartney, Marchesa,  Jenny Packham, Lanvin and Givenchy to name a few,  the new online store remains loyal to owner Georgina Weir’s ethos and is a digital embodiment of Le Louvre’s exclusive edit of some of the world’s finest fashion labels. Accessories predominate and there are touches of clothing including signature pieces by designers Mary Katrantzou, Balmain and Lanvin. Product designed by the Le Louvre team will also feature.

The shopping experience in-store is not to be missed. The inclusion of graffiti by artist Dan Wenn in fluro pink is simplistically fabulous. Mirrored stairs and a glass staircase provide an amazing central beacon, the kind of architectural juxtaposition you’d expect from an old master made new.

If you feel like treating yourself or just basking in a dose of high fashion, be sure to visit Le Louvre.

Whitney Port. WE by Whitney Eve for Sporstgirl

As an avid fan of MTV’s The Hills and The City, I was totes excited to see the gorgeous Whitney Port, debut her diffusion line We. by Whitney Eve for Sportsgirl last week. Showing Australian designer One Teaspoon some love (she was sporting the designers jeans) her fashion forward and on trend style was envied by most in the room.

Her line for Sportsgirl is feminine and girly with summer staples like shorts and bold coloured blouses that I can certainly visualise taking up space in my wardrobe. The stunning Zoe Foster, fiancée of Hamish Blake, hosted the up close and personal style preview and asked the hard questions; What’s the beauty product you can’t live without? What style advice would you give?  AND …”Are you still friends with Lauren Conrad?”

Fortunately for us, the answers were Morrocan Oil, less is more and yes she is still friends with Lauren (cue relief – I heart Lauren and Whitney). Questions were taken from the floor where the candid Whitney provided wisdom beyond her years on how to break into the cut throat world of fashion. Exceeding my expectations, Whitney was refreshingly down to earth and very passionate about her new ventures not to mention a total babe!

You can purchase We.by Whitney Eve online at Sportsgirl now.

Styling Rachel Williams in Carla Zampatti

It was my greatest pleasure to style one of my gorgeous best friend’s Rachel Williams, for her engagement party.  I was tote’s excited as she and her fiancee Jayson Watts, are two of my closest friends. So pressure was on to ensure she was a standout.

Rachel wanted to wear a maxi dress but given her small frame, it  just meant that I had to find the perfect dress that would expose her tiny frame.

I didn’t have to look much further than Carla Zampatti’s Aquamarine Georgette Gown. The plunging neck line and tapered waist are complimented by fluid draping and a cut away back, creating an elegant silhouette.

Styled with simple sterling silver jewels, a wispy up do and Tony Bianco’s Ambrose Heels in Skin Lizard Nubuck, Rachel looked absolutely stunning.

A spectacular night, I wish Rachel and Jayson all the happiness in the world, as they truly deserve it.

Much love!

Designer. Nicola Finetti + Jeanswest Denim = Love

Last week, I did a spot of shopping with my colleague My Super Nanny founder, Stephanie Wakefield whilst we were having a ’ meeting’ about all things FASHION and my blog on My Super Nanny.

I know Steph LOVES wearing black, but with Spring just around the corner, I thought it was high time I took the opportunity to talk her into shutting it down in some new season trends - coloured denim and neon!

You can never go wrong with a classic skinny leg jean and with the right blouse, and a pop of colour, you can take your look from day to night.

1. Powder Super Skinny jeans by Jeanswest

2. Open back bustier top in Pink by Nicola Finetti.

Styled with her own ankle boots, Marc Jacobs bag, Michael Kors Watch and Samantha Wills gold cuff.

Front Row. MYER Spring/Summer 2013 Launch

I was privileged enough to attend the Myer Spring Summer 2013 Collections on Thursday night in Sydney where Myer Ambassadors Jennifer Hawkins and Kris Smith launched a spectacular parade that showcased over 170 new season looks by Myer’s leading stable of Australian designers (and some of my personal favourites).

The launch played out in an intimate circular catwalk - a suspended abstract landscape constructed from thousands of individual rope lengths that hovered high above the audience transforming the space and creating our journey to South Africa - the home of Myer’s advertising campaign for the season.

Jennifer Hawkins made a stunning entrance in Toni Maticevski to open the show, flanked by models wearing custom made designs created by Myer’s talented designers. Jayson Brunsdon, Fleur Wood, Ellery, Aurelio Costarella, sass & bide and Manning Cartell proceeded to follow and had me lusting for more.

Jennifer took to the catwalk wearing gorgeous designs from Ellery, Manning Cartell, her swimwear label Cozi and Aurelio Costarella.

Kris Smith showcased leading Myer menswear brands Arthur Galan AG, Dom Bagnato, Blaq and renowned Australian swimwear label Speedo, new to Myer this season.

Closing the show was Jen in a breathtaking Aurelio Costarella gown.

Lucky for me, Myer’s leading designers, including Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton, Kym Ellery, Karen Walker, Magdalena Velevska, Arthur Galan, Yeojin Bae, Jayson Brunsdon, Aurelio Costarella, Nicola Finetti, Leona Edmiston and Wayne Cooper were all in attendance and lucky for me, within arms reach.

An after party on the catwalk followed the event where the fun and fabulous people (or rather fashion) watching really began.

Visit Myer online or visit your nearest store to treat your wardrobe this Spring/Summer, I certainly will be.

Big thanks to the team at Myer for having me.
