Styling COVET Magazine. The Barber Shop

The fun part about being a stylist is that I get to play dress up with some of my favourite designer threads. The ‘Barber Shop’ was a shoot devised for Covet Magazine, photographed by Anthony Licuria of APL Photography and features designs by some of my favourites; including Hugo Boss, Tristan Melle, Rachel Gilbert & Calibre. This particular shoot was an extremely busy time for me, so I called on the help of my fabulous friend and equally talent men’s stylist Lora Djurdjevic (a name you’ll hear about if you haven’t already!). We make a great team and I personally thank her for helping me pull this together.

Getting My Leopard On. Rachel Zoe at Myer

image

Further to my last post, I couldn’t get enough of the Rachel Zoe Collection when I visited Myer Melbourne last week. It occurred to me, why stop at one piece when you can have three! This devine leopard print 2-piece suit was speaking to me, “buy me, buy me, buy me” - I had to oblige.

What I love about this piece, is it looks very high fashion without the high fashion price tag (not to imply that it’s not expense, but I was expecting to part with a lot more).

The blazer goes for bold in a high-contrast animal print, notched lapels, button front and cuffs and three patch pockets. Paired with the devine slim line pants, I can easily tie in pieces from my own wardrobe to style it up or down depending on the occasion.

This tailored, classic and timeless piece is effortless and on-trend. Definitely a wardrobe staple when I’m rushing to and from appointments.

Styling. Jump for your Love

Day 4  at  Mercedes Benz Fashion Week had Tara O’keefe attending the Suboo show, which meant bringing some sunshine to the previous day’s look (monochrome).

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a jumpsuit. When I was selecting options for Tara’s fashion week events, I had to get this jumpsuit by Unspoken on her. Whilst striking in colour, it also has a drop v-back and cuts just under the bust - ensuring a longer line for Tara’s small frame.

The sometimes referred “onesie” can make you look longer and is always a head turner. However, you want that to be for the right reasons. It can also make you appear wider if you don’t choose the right shape for you. Cuts such as this one are a safe option as inevitably it will make your legs appear longer - and let’s be honest, us shorter girls love that!

Unspoken Monochrome. Tara O’keefe at Fashion Week

imageimage

Tara O’keefe attended Watson X Watson during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, so it was only fitting that I wanted Tara to sport a look that was on trend with the designer and the fashionable crowd. Most of you know I’m going through a monochrome phase (aka. black and white) .

Excuse the selfies, I had jetted back to Melbourne by this stage so I left it to Tara to showcase her look.

The Deck at Circa. UNSPOKEN Sunday Session

imageimageimageimageimageimageimage

For almost 12 weeks, The Deck (formerly known as The Circa Rooftop, where I was lucky to celebrate my wedding day) has transformed into a St. Tropez meets Las Vegas Day Club/Bar/Lounge in an exclusive pool/rooftop setting at the iconic Prince of Wales Hotel in the heart of Fitzroy St, St. Kilda.

Just before my birthday and my big NYC trip, I thought I’d step back in time and dance away to the sounds of John Course on The Deck with my girlfriends. Biggest decision, what to wear? I am in love with Unspoken’s ‘Dark Bloom’ AW13 collection , so I built my outfit around their ‘Dark Bloom’ skirt.

My girlfriends and I took advantage of the SKYY Pool Club’s full European style Table Bottle service in the exclusive roped off Day Bed area, definitely feeling very VIP. Although my dance moves later on may have put me straight back in the common area where I belong - but it was completely worth it.

The SKYY Pool Deck will complete its Sunday sessions this weekend, so be sure to check out what all the fuss is about. If you liked the sounds of Onelove at The Prince of Wales back in the day, but now feel the need to be sipping Verve and Vodka cocktails surrounded by beautiful people - then the SKYY Pool Deck is definitely for you.

For this Sunday’s guest list and table services enquiries email guestlist@skyypoolclub.com

AW13 Myer International Designer Collections Preview

imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

I was lucky enough to preview the new International Autumn/Winter 2013 Collections at Myer recently and whilst we may not all, myself included, be able to get our hands on every delicious item, it didn’t make the experience any less exciting.

Like a kid in a candy store, I pulled from the racks the best of the new season, Balmain, Givenchy, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s The Row, Isabel Marant, Roland Mouret, McQ Alexander McQueen’s embellished knits, to name a few. And, I was pleased to preview the latest additions to the Myer family, Kenzo, Alberta Ferretti, Peter Pilotto and Jil Sander Navy.

With fabulous fashion, comes sensational accessories and there was no shortage of those either. With the Balmain belts encased in the glass cabinet, I took the time to play dress ups with scarves by Moschino and Emilo Pucci and jewels by Sonia by Sonia Rykiel.

My favourites from the preview; Givenchy leather dress, Balmain Jacket, The Row leather vest and the Vanessa Bruno Jacket/Vest/ Dress - I am positive I could justify the cost per wear!

And as if it wasn’t fun enough, it has to be said, the staff at Myer take customer service to an entire new level, showcasing the designs, talking through the detail, answering questions and offering me a return visit, even if it’s just to browse! It’s the type of service that reminds you that an in-store experience, can be just as exhilirating as the purchase we all frequently make nowdays át the click of a button online.

Do yourself a fashionable favour and visit Myer Melbourne and Sydney City today and get your hands on the new seasons must haves.

Styling Chantelle Raleigh. Melbourne Storm Player of the Year

Presenter Chantelle Raleigh attended the Melbourne Storm Player of the Year Awards on October 1 and I didn’t have to look too far for an embellished cocktail dress, having spotted this embellished emerald cocktail dress by Belluccio a few weeks back. Chantelle looked divine.

The dress being quite a statement on its own was styled with diamonds by Temelli Jewellery, heels by Tony Bianco and gold clutch by Peeptoe.

STYLING Annie Nolan in Daniella Stephanie, Western Bulldogs. Brownlow Medal 2012

My gorgeous client Annie Nolan, partner of Western Bulldogs Liam Picken  looked like a goddess in a Daniela Stephanie gown at the 2012 Brownlow Medal.  Annie looked exquisite and fashion forward in this stunning piece by my latest fashion discovery Daniella Stephanie. Big thanks to Trish Nicol PR for bringing this designer to my attention.  Daniela Stephanie’s designs speak classic glamour with a modern edge, every piece with an extra special something and this theatrical silhouette was a sure thing for Annie for the 2012 Brownlow Medal.

This was Annie’s first Brownlow medal so we channelled old Hollywood with her hair in a large bun, diamond earrings, ring and bangle by Temelli Jewellery, with her heels by Peeptoe and embellished black clutch by Mimco.

Annie featured on Channel 10’s The Project, Chanel 7’s coverage of the awards and Channel 9 News during The Brownlow Medal Red Carpet coverage. A delight to work with and just a beautiful girl inside and out

STYLING Brittany Austin, Sydney Swans. Brownlow Medal 2012

Styling the beautiful Brittany Austin, the sweet Sydney-sider and partner of Sydney Swan Kieren Jack, was a last minute addition to my styling pack of 6 for this years event. Fortunately  I’d seen Belluccio present their stunning gowns at Fashion Aid and knew exactly who to call. I so was so appreciative when Julie Sufi, director and designer of Belluccio was happy to be involved. This stunning backless silver embellished gown was perfect for Brittany and complimented her small frame.

I styled the gown with encrusted diamonds by LK Boutique, Tony Bianco’s ‘Krystle’ heel and  Peeptoe ‘Lady Fanciful’ clutch to complete the look. Brittany is in her early 20’s so we put her hair in a fish-tail braid so her look was sophisticated, fashion forward but age appropriate.

I am very pleased to report that Brittany made the best dressed lists for New Idea Magazine and The Daily Telegraph. And why wouldn’t she? Amazing inside and out. Thanks for having me Brittany.

STYLING ABBY BERENGUER. ST KILDA, 2012 Brownlow Medal

Abby Berenguer, partner of St Kilda’s Sean Dempster looked radiant on Brownlow Medal night in a custom made designed gown by Kyha at One Day.

The on-trend black lace and bustier very much feature in the 2013 Fall/Winter collections in Europe. Abby has a beautiful body so the split up the middle made for a striking gown.

I complimented her show stopping gown with a Swarovski black clutch by Peeptoe, diamonds by Temelli Jewellery and fabulous heels by Christian Louboutin.

Styling Haylea Cooney. 2012 Brownlow Medal

Working with super-mum Haylea Cooney, wife of Brownlow Medallist Adam for the 2012 Brownlow Medal, was an absolute pleasure. The easy going mum of three was quick to stand up for all girls attending the Brownlow declaring, that whilst the fashion loving public (including me) may get excited about the red carpet, the truth is that most women attending the Brownlow are mums at home or hard working average women just enjoying a fun night out and getting dressed up. View the article where she very kindly mentions me, is a reality check for us all.

Wearing the ‘Eileen’ dress by Kyha at One Day, the lace detail and exquiste open back made for a departure for Haylea who was pregnant with daughter Evie at last year’s Brownlow. Named among the AFL’s best dressed, she looked beautiful in diamonds by Temelli Jewellery, with heels and clutch by Peeptoe.

AFL Grand Final Week. Lynette Bolton, Ch 9 News

Lynette Bolton appeared on Channel 9 News last night as part of the excitement of the AFL Grand Final week preparations between Sydney Swans and Hawthorn. Lynette wears a leather peplum top and matching shorts by Steele Melbourne – one to watch, this label is speaking to me, I want it all.

Watch Lynette’s segment on Channel 9 HERE

All white is very classic look, but the inclusion of leather and peplum makes it quite directional. We paired the Steele Melbourne top and shorts, part of the labels high summer range with a Kookai Spring -Summer 12/13 jacket to finish the look.

The following day, Lynette also sported a Stelle blouse and skirt as part of her role as a the face of ‘Salvonista’ a campaign that encourages fashion savvy, budget conscious consumers to shop at their local Salvos Stores and discover affordable fashion, while helping the community and the environment.
