Traditionally known as ‘Ladies Day’ amongst racegoers, Crown Oaks Day is the biggest style event of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Whilst famously known as the day women take the opportunity to express their ‘signature style.

It was also my time to ensure three fabulous women, model Sophie Van Den Akker and Sydney Swans leading ladies, Tara O’keefe and TV Presenter Lynette Bolton put their best heels forward.

I have rebelled against the black and white fashion instruction for Melbourne Cup Carnival for some time now. But with age and a love a fashion, comes a respect for tradition. And whilst I will absolutely abide by Flemington’s old school glamour come Derby Day next week, for those of you that follow my style, I need to inject a little colour. Every so often I dress someone and find a label that could have been especially made for them. Steele Melbourne (my latest little fashion discovery thanks to Park Avenue PR and The Lofft Fashion Agency) was just that to my beautfiul client, Emily McKay.

Steele’s collection is a confident and dynamic mix of femininity and modern day chic; displaying signature elements such as sheers and silks, fresh color palettes, feminine prints and feature graphics.

Emily’s on-trend statement peplum blouse and leather split skirt were accessorised with a gold tribal necklace by Peeptoe. Emily definitely had a moment, shutting it down at Fashion Aid.

I was lucky enough to style the opening parade for Fashion Aid 5 presented by Free Energy Drink and featuring one of my favourite labels, Mossman. To add to this spectacular display of fashion, Free Energy Drink engaged singer Zoe Badwi to perform her hit, Free Fallin.

My brief, style Face of Fashion Aid, super star model Silvana Lovin, Zoe Badwi and 8 models. After a sneak peak of Mossman’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection, the task at hand became quite simple. In short, their statement and on trend collection features all this seasons must have’s - floral, neon, peplum and white.

With the looks accessorised by amaze jewellery label Sistaco and heels by Tony Bianco, the opening definitely got the party started. Big thanks to Franki & David at Free Energy Drink for having me and the beautiful Deanna and Cyn of Mossman for entrusting me with their latest collection.

And before you ask, Mossman’s Spring Racing Carnival dresses featured in the show are in store this month.

Famed restauranter Fraser Short opened his long-awaited redevelopment of the Brooklyn Hotel at 225 George Street in the city. The Morrison Bar and Oyster Room has claims on a new record: its kitchen surely has more former head chefs per square metre than any other Sydney restaurant.

Presenter and my beautiful client Lynette Bolton (pictured with the equally beautiful Tara O’Keefe) was there to celebrate. We thought a little black dress by Natasha Gan with a choker necklace by Divawas the right choice and appropriate for the balmy Sydney evening.

Shopping with a client in South Yarra on Saturday, we visited the oldest of the old-school retailers, Le Louvre in South Yarra. A fashion institution in Collins Street for over 8o years Le Louvre space  transports you to luxurious fashion heaven and has recently made the move to online shopping.

Home to designers Alexander McQueen, Balmain, Stella McCartney, Marchesa,  Jenny Packham, Lanvin and Givenchy to name a few,  the new online store remains loyal to owner Georgina Weir’s ethos and is a digital embodiment of Le Louvre’s exclusive edit of some of the world’s finest fashion labels. Accessories predominate and there are touches of clothing including signature pieces by designers Mary Katrantzou, Balmain and Lanvin. Product designed by the Le Louvre team will also feature.

The shopping experience in-store is not to be missed. The inclusion of graffiti by artist Dan Wenn in fluro pink is simplistically fabulous. Mirrored stairs and a glass staircase provide an amazing central beacon, the kind of architectural juxtaposition you’d expect from an old master made new.

My client, TV presenter and personality Lynette Bolton regularly features on Channel 7’s The Morning Show. But this time, she had her gorgeous baby girl Siarra join her.
