When Nadia met Maticevski

NADIA COPPOLINO, driving force behind fashion blog Chronicles of Nadia, has us all hot and bloggered each week with a style that redefines sleek and stylish. Wearing everything from super-structured pieces to punchy prints, Nadia’s loyalty to clean, eye-catching lines is what makes her outfits so enticing. Chances are (if you’re fashion savvy in social media) you’ve seen her photos floating around, but what you may not know about this softly spoken glamour girl is that whilst her blog is new on the fashion scene, Nadia has worked in the fashion industry in brand, advertising and marketing for a number of years, enabling her to provide much inspiration to her very engaged followers

So when we decided to collaborate for the recent Myer Spring/Summer 14 launch in Sydney, my instant thought was to put a style out there that hadn’t been seen before, challenging both of us to step outside the square – fortunately for me, Nadia was completely on board. So where does one go when one wishes to make a statement for all the right reasons?…

I looked no further than designer Toni Maticevski. Since the launch of  his label in 1999, Toni Maticevski’s drive and vision has seen the talented designer gracefully continue to achieve and evolve the Maticevski brand, which in reward has earned him the role as one of the most successful and talented designers to rein from Australia. As Toni grew as a designer and respected creative figure within the world of Fashion and Art, so did the Maticevski brand.  Debuting his first collection show to a standing ovation at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney in 2002, Maticevski has gone on to present his collections in Paris, London and New York Fashion Weeks. The last 13 years has seen Toni the Creator and Director of MATICEVSKI Pty. Ltd., which houses and successfully operates three collections: Maticevski Ready-To-Wear, Maticevski Collection and Maticevski Bridal.

The Maticevski 2014 Resort collection took my breath away during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week earlier this year. So for Nadia and I to be able to work with these pieces of art, was genuinely a privilege. A decidedly elegant collection with a sporty finish, the collection features soft rounded hemlines that are anchored with crinoline to add volume to the abstract rounded circle shapes. That the final look was monochrome, was an added bonus. Most of you know I can’t get enough of the trend at the moment.

Styled with clutch and shoes from Peeptoe, also available at Myer

Nadia’s look will be available for purchase from October/November 2013 at Myer and  Toni Maticevski stockists around the country.

Styling Myer SS14 Fashion Launch in Nicola Finetti

image

image

image

Nicola Finetti’s Spring/Summer 2013/14 collection is on another level. With the designer’s latest collection featuring a gorgeous array of monos, metallic, bold colours, white on white and stripe prints, it was on the top of my list when sourcing a Myer designer for the Spring/Summer launch for my client Tara O’keefe, wedding extroidinare at De La Mod, and wife of AFL Sydney Swan, Ryan O’keefe.

One of my favourite pieces in the collection, available at Myer, is Nicola Finetti’s  new season ‘Angled Hem Skirt’, available in an array of colours and prints. It makes a statement and is very wearable beyond a night out. Pair with a tee to dress it down or dial it up with a crop top, shirt or blazer.

I’m crushing on the cropped top at the moment, so these two pieces together were speaking to me. I’ve been going through a monochrome phase so it was great to put Tara in some pop colour, styled with new season Peeptoe clutch and Tony Bianco shoes.

Erin Maxwell. A MYER moment in Leroy Nguyen

image

image

image

image

This past Thursday, myself and some of my fellow Melbourne fashion friends made our way to Sydney to preview the Myer Spring/Summer 2014 collection. What does one wear to one of the biggest fashion events of the season? More on that later.

Always looking to challenge myself and my work, I was lucky to work with Erin Maxwell, of fashion blog LOVE SHOP SHARE. I’ve followed Erin’s blog as a consumer of fashion since it’s inception in 2011, searching for inspiration for my next purchase with Erin’s focus very much on drawing on international trends and making them her own, mixing a flavour of her favourite Australian brands with those that inspire her overseas.  Always willing to step it up in the fashion stakes, I had a lot of fun collaborating with Erin on this look.

We didn’t need to look much further than designer Leroy Nguyen. Leroy Nguyen first caught my eye at the 2012 TAFE Fashion Design Studio graduate show with his fresh take on sculptural shapes and digital printing. I’ve been obsessed with his designs ever since.

His 2013/14 Spring Summer Collection, The Candy Shop debuted as part of The Innovators show in May at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Inspired by the colourful kaleidoscope of sweets and Willy Wonka fare, the collection unveiled twelve looks comprising Nguyen’s signature design aesthetic, two hero custom digital prints, 26 individual pieces and the introduction of swimwear to the label. The ‘Scuba’ navy sculptured dress with lime lining, as worn by Erin, was my absolute favourite piece in the collection and lucky for me - Erin loved it too!

We styled it with delicate gold Tony Bianco heels and Peeptoe Shoes ‘Lady Sunset’ clutch to draw out the lime accent’s in the lining.

The Shoe Obsession Continues

image

Whoops I did it again…my shoe obsession in the absence of buying clothes I love, that fit, continues - a baby belly will do that to you.

On the bright side, come summer, I will have a shoe collection fit for my new wardrobe. Like me, you may be hearting the lace up shoe trend this season, enabling your feet to truly make a fashion statement. This is my third pair.

I spotted these at Zara and quickly snapped them up. They have certainly flown off the shelves so if you happen to miss them, get your hands on these by Windsor Smith. Divine.

(I’ll purchase in the red) but this way we can all have a pair!

Accessory Love. Michaela Menichelli

Last week I was invited to the showroom of Michaela Menichelli, a gorgeous, passionate and dedicated young accessory designer who I had been communicating with for some time, but only recently had the pleasure of meeting. She is infectious and you can’t help but buy what she is selling.

It becomes apparent very quickly that Michaela has travelled the world, drawing inspiration from foreign cultures in exotic countries, with leather and hides featuring heavily throughout her collections.

Michaela explained to me that each hide in her Batik Princess collection was individually chosen before being carved and manufactured by hand. The uniqueness of the colourings in the hides and intricate carvings ensure that no two items are the same. Each piece in the collection is a work of art. The leather used in the Dream Weaver collection is sourced in Indonesia before being embossed to add texture and detail, bearing a strong resemblance to crocodile skin. This collection is my favourite, it adds an injection of the new season’s hottest accent colours; Tangerine Orange, Aubergine Purple, Turquoise Blue, Chartreuse Yellow and Steel Grey.

These leather clutches for summer will be divine, not to mention for some of my clients during the Spring Racing Carnival.

More recently, Michaela has moved into developing products for home with a stunning range of cushions now available to purchase online. I can definitely see the white one on all my feature chairs at home!

I walked away with the stunning white Michaela Menichelli Sahara clutch that I’ve already managed to use three times this past week.

TV personality and event manager Lynette Bolton, appeared on Channel 7’s Sunrise last Friday morning discussing the day’s hot topics as a regular ’Kochie’s Angel’. Watch Lynette’s segment here.

For morning television, it’s important to remain conservative with a fashionable edge. My go-to label for such a brief;

V I K T O R I A + W O O D S.

I have been lusting after V I K T O R I A + W O O D S since 2003 when I purchased one of their signature knits - I still get compliments when I wear it today. V I K T O R I A + W O O D S is known for effortless wardrobe staples with a pared-down, contemporary feel. In recent seasons, the label has taken this to a whole new level - much to our excitement.

The new ‘Magnetic Spring/Summer 2013 Collection’ available soon, offers on trend and seriously wearable pieces that can take you from day to night and work to play.

Lynette wears the Delta Shirt and Aura Relaxed pant.

Visit V I K T O R I A + W O O D S and stay in touch for when the amazing ’Magnetic collection is available in-store.

SHOP THE EDIT.  I HEART FAB SHOES

Being 5 months pregnant, my fashion fetish has been replaced with an obsession with shoes. When clothes aren’t fitting exactly the way I’d like them too, I can rely on the fact that my shoe size has remained unchanged (for now!)

Which is causing havoc in my wallet.

But in preparation for shopping for a fabulous friend’s birthday - I came across the best of the best under $150.00 (okay, the Jeffrey Campbell Debora cutout booties are there for temptation!)

Happy Shopping!

1. Nasty Gal Jeffrey Campbell Debora Cutout Bootie $188.00

2. Nasty Gal Jeffrey Campbell Platform Pump $138.00

3. Jeffrey Cambpell Not There Sandal $135.00

This past weekend I styled Lynette Bolton, for Hearts on The Harbour. Lynette is an Event Manager for her company LCB Productions, TV presenter for Kochie’s Angels on Sunrise and The Morning Show, blogger and mother.

As a member of the Hearts Committee - a team who put together the Hearts Event for The Kids Cancer Project, Lynette donated her event teams services and her own to help raise funds to cure cancer and put together the fabulous Hearts on the Harbour dinner at The Sydney Opera House.

As an intergral part of the event, it was important that Lynette’s style for the evening reflected her involvement and personal style.

Styling COVET Magazine is always so much fun, but even better when the person you’re styling is top model and one time Australia’s Next Top Model runner-up Sophie Van Den Akker.

Photographer Anthony Licuria’s (APL Photography) brief was conservative vamp, so I immediately envisaged leather. For those that have been following my style of late, I’m hearting monochrome and leather so was so excited about this shoot.

Issue 15 of COVET won’t be available until August 2013, but I had to share these behind the scenes snaps of our ‘Dark Princess’shoot.

Glamourous hair has a new name. ELEVEN

Melbourne celebrated in style last Tuesday, at the much anticipated launch party for the new range of ELEVEN Australia hair products. I was lucky enough to attend and walked away with some serious hair envy.

The event took place at Collingwood’s Rokeby Studios and when the entrance door opened I walked into a crowd that surrounded a live photo shoot by ELEVEN Australia Co-Creative Directors Joey Scandizzo and Andrew O’Toole with top Australian models incorporating the hottest hair trends in fashion and beauty.

Proudly owned by Australian hair care distributor Ozdare, ELEVEN Australia showcased the use of its new in-salon range giving them the top tips and tricks to achieve luscious, fabulous locks.

The exciting new range unveils 15 hair care products designed to deliver hold, shine, texture and volume to your hair, with the products expected to follow in the footsteps of debut release and now my beauty routine must-have, Miracle Hair Treatment.

Now if only I could have the Eleven Australia boys at home before stepping out the door.

SHOP. Alexander Wang Diego Bucker Bag

image

      image

image     image        image

Alexander Wang bags first hit the scene with the infamous “Rocco”, but now celebrities and fashion conscious are flocking towards a more modern design.

Bucket bags have been making a comeback, and the “Diego” bucket bag is the perfect style item that is also comfortable and easy to carry around on shopping trips. A necessity for my job and with a baby on the way, I want something that’s stylish but that is also practical.

It’s slouchy and downtown-chic. Constructed of rich, wrinkled leather and accented with heavy studs that lend an industrial feel. The edges of the front and main pocket are drawn together with buckled straps, which double as adjustable cross-body and shoulder straps.

In my search for the perfect designer bag, I found the Alexander Wang ‘Diego’ bag was relatively more affordable (in comparision to a Chanel, Louis Vuitton or Celine bag) yet still packed the same fashionable punch.

Styling COVET Magazine. The Barber Shop

The fun part about being a stylist is that I get to play dress up with some of my favourite designer threads. The ‘Barber Shop’ was a shoot devised for Covet Magazine, photographed by Anthony Licuria of APL Photography and features designs by some of my favourites; including Hugo Boss, Tristan Melle, Rachel Gilbert & Calibre. This particular shoot was an extremely busy time for me, so I called on the help of my fabulous friend and equally talent men’s stylist Lora Djurdjevic (a name you’ll hear about if you haven’t already!). We make a great team and I personally thank her for helping me pull this together.

Whether you require styling for a special occassion, a personal shopping session, wedding, a corporate makeover or perhaps you need to clean out your wardrobe? I am able to provide a range of services tailored to you.

Fashion-conscious from a very young age, it was my friends and co-workers asking for style advice and help to revamp their wardrobes which launched my passion for fashion styling early.

Following
